Although Antoine Dionne lived his whole life in the area around La Pocatière, Québec, several of his family moved to the Madawaska region of the upper St.John River valley, including his son Henri, who in 1843 as a Roman Catholic priest established the parish and church of Ste-Luce in what is today Frenchville; his daughter Hortense, who married Antoine Gagnon (my great-great grandparents); his daughter Marie-Scholastique, wife of Édouard Lauzier-Roy; his granddaughter Sophie Bossé, who married Louis Tardif (my great-great grandparents); and his grandson Germain Lévesque, who married Nathalie Cyr (the sister of my great-great grandmother Anastasie Cyr). Antoine's wife Salomée Miville dit Deschênes also moved to Madawaska, and was living there by 1844.
Hortense apparently came to Madawaska in the early 1840s, perhaps with her brother Father Henri Dionne, who moved to the area in about September 1841. Marie-Scholastique, her husband and children moved between 1855 and 1860, following their son Édouard, who had moved sometime before August 1849. Sophie and her husband moved to the Madawaska region probably sometime in the 1850s, as did Germain Lévesque. There may be other descendants of Antoine and Salomée who moved to Madawaska.
