Canada -- St.Lawrence River valley Along with Acadians, many francophones from the St.Lawrence River valley moved to the upper St.John valley.

Maine & Massachusetts The earliest English-speakers who settled came around 1820, and continued to migrate to the valley throughout the 1800s. Many of them came from Maine and Massachusetts
Lumberjacks A great attraction of the valley was its stands of timber. Lumberjacks came from the Kennebec and Penobscot valleys, from the Baie des Chaleurs, and from other regions. A forum to discuss the network of lumbermen in the valley.
