Le site Web � Toucher du bois � est une vitrine servant � valoriser le patrimoine socioculturel madawaskayen, et ce, dans les deux langues officielles du pays. Il pr�sente de nombreux �l�ments li�s � ce patrimoine et permet d'en faire l'utilisation � des fins personnelles, �ducatives et de recherche. Il met � la disposition des utilisateurs, de multiples photos, textes et vid�o d'archives ainsi que plusieurs vignettes historiques et des sc�narios d'enseignement destin�s aux enseignantes et aux enseignants souhaitant d�couvrir la culture madawaskayenne.

Knock on Wood: The forest at the heart of the madawaskayan
It contains many elements such as archived photos, texts, videos, historical vignettes and learning scenarios that can be used by educators and researchers to discover or to illustrate the madawaskayan culture. The elements mostly come from the "Fraser Companies Limited Archive collection" located at Centre de documentation et d'�tudes madawaskayennes (CEDEM) de l'Universit� de Moncton, campus d'Edmundston.

There's a proposal in the Maine State Legislature to limit all access to any vital records -- birth, marriage, death -- for 100 years from the event.

The supposed goal has to do with identity theft, but apparently there's no evidence that this is really a problem in relation to these records.

On the other hand, these restrictions would seriously limit our ability to research our families, apart from direct relatives (parents, children).
