My heritage follows two predominant family names to northern Maine, Cyr and Cote. Pierre Sire (Cyr) from Tourraine France who arrived in Acadia Port Royal in 1668 and Jean Coste (Cote) from Mortagne, Perche, France in 1634. There were several family members on both sides that emigrated at that time ...

I was able to solve this mystery after taking a trip to Ste Agathe and Madawaska in September of 2006 and speaking to some very helpful cousins through Ancestry.com. Anyone looking info on this branch of the Cote family, please feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to share.
