New information from 1850 census: Mortality schedules

Post by ChipG »

Thanks to Larry Glatz, a visitor to this website, who transcribed the Mortality Schedules of the 1850 US census of Aroostook County, and has given me permission to post them at this website.

You can now see that transcription, at the 1850 Mortality Schedule page. I've also put up an alphabetical name index to make finding people easier.

As I note on those pages, although the mortality schedule was supposed to include the names of all persons who died between June 1, 1849 and May 31, 1850, it is in reality very incomplete. For example I have not found any of the people listed in the Ste Luce parish register as having died and been buried in that period.

Nevertheless, it does seem somewhat more complete for other townships, and should provide interesting information. Definitely check it out!
