I have just discovered a website that has over 370,000 older books scanned and online for free. There is a multi-volume set of books on the history of Maine and I'm sure many others that may be of interest.

Or here is a link to a search for "Maine"

I just discovered this book in the archives mentioned in my previous post.

The Acadians of Madwaska, Maine (1902)

You can read it online in the original scanned format, or get it in a number of other formats including PDF and Kindle. I just downloaded it to my Kindle.

I expect there will be lots of interesting info in this book.

There are so many other books in these archives too.

Here is a chapter in a book about settlement in the St. John River valley. I scanned it quickly and it seems to be very general history without much mention of any names of individuals. Still there may be some info of value in it.
