Query from a visitor:

My great, great grandfather was Joseph Gagnon who married Marie Exibert Mary Bouchard on 8/13/1900. His parents were Joseph Hippolyte Gagnon and Marie Tardif who married 8/22/1876.

That's pretty much all I know at this point, I have been diligently searching, to no avail for more info but am deadlocked at Hippolyte and Marie.

Here is the info on your g-g grandparents:

GAGNON, JOSEPH fils de Hippolyte et Marie Tardif - 1876
BOUCHARD, EXIBERT fille de Parfait et Exibert Guerette - 1882
maries a Ste Luce Frenchville, ME - 1900-08-13

They were married at Ste Luce, not St. Bruno.

Here's the info I found on your g-g-g grandparents:

GAGNON, HIPPOLYTE fils de Joseph et Leocadie Lebel - 1843
TARDIF, MARIE fille de Etienne et Genevieve Labbe - 1838
maries a St Pascal, PQ - 1876-08-22

This says they were married in St.Pascal, which is part of Kamouraska.

Hippolyte's parents were Joseph Gagnon and Léocadie Lebel. Here's info on them:

GAGNON, JOSEPH fils de Joseph et Angele Ouellet -
LEBEL, LEOCADIE fille de Augustin et Scholastique Caron - 1819
maries a Riviere du Loup, PQ - 1843-02-21

Riviere-du-Loup is the next town downriver from Kamouraska.

Unfortunately the information I have does not have anything on Joseph and Angèle Ouellet, so the line dead-ends there in terms of the info I have. You may want to check the Repertoire des marriages put out by the Genealogical Society of Quebec, they cover pretty much every county and you should be able to get them via interlibrary loan.

Here's info on the parents of Marie Tardif:

TARDIF, ETIENNE fils de Hippolyte et Marie Angelique Levesque - 1808
LABBE, GENEVIEVE fille de Joseph et Marie Perpetue Berube - 1807
maries a St Pascal, PQ - 1838-11-05

Here's info on Etienne's parents:

TARDIF, HIPPOLYTE fils de Etienne et Marie Catherine Nadeau - 1764
LEVESQUE, MARIE ANGELIQUE fille de Rene et Marie Francoise Morneau - 1776
maries a Kamouraska, PQ - 1808-11-07

So they were also from St.Pascal. I think I've found them in the 1831 census of Kamouraska Co., though I'm not 100 percent sure, go to this page: <http://www.upperstjohn.com/1831/stpaschal3.htm#281>, down to line 26, it is in St. Pascal, and there is a son that is in the range Etienne would probably be, so it's likely it's them.

Let me know if you've got questions on any of this or would like more info.
