"Sheriff's Returns of Commitments and Discharges at New Carlisle Gaol, from the year 1830 to 1842"

The information in the following table is from The Journal of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada, 1843, Appendix G, no.41. It is a list of all people who were "committed" -- jailed -- in the part of the Gaspé that was under the jurisdiction of the New Carlisle Jail (Gaol) between 1830 and 1842. The information was gathered as part of an investigation of the conditions of the justice system in the Gaspé region of the Province of Lower Canada (Québec). The information in the table is transcribed exactly as it appeared in the original source, including spellings of names and places.
