Grand Isle

"The town of Grand Isle ... is one of the few towns in that area which retains the title given by the French Acadians. Incorporated in 1869, it took its name from a large and fertile island in the St. John's River within the limits of the town. The original Acadians who settled here were François Cormier, Alexis Cormier, Pierre Cormier, Louis Leblanc and Gregoire Thibodeau." (Chadbourne, p.116)
