He appeared on the census in 1870 in Lyndon, Aroostook, Maine.⁽²⁴⁵⁾ (Listed as age 38, farmer, real estate worth $500, personal estate worth $200, born in New Brunswick, both parents of foreign birth, US citizen, living with Esther (29), George (14), Mary J. 87. Bridget GAHAGAN was born in 1835 in Ireland. ⁽²⁴⁹⁾ She appeared on the census in 1850 in Eaton Grant (Caribou), Aroostook Co., Maine.⁽²⁵⁰⁾ (Listed as Bridgett Gahagan, 15, born in Ireland, living in her father Owen's household.) She died on 18 Apr 1858. Children were:

i. George Washington HALE was born on 18 Jun 1856.
