It is highly likely that Elizabeth Forrester's parents were Charles Forrester and Margaret Ramsay of Edinburgh, Scotland. Thanks to Dennis Prue for the following information on this family.

Charles FORRESTER was married to Margararet RAMSAY in Scotland.

367. Margaret RAMSAY.

Charles FORRESTER and Margaret RAMSAY had the following children:

i. Margaret FORRESTER was baptized on 24 Apr 1782 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
ii. Mary FORRESTER was born on 20 Nov 1783 in Edinburgh.
183 iii. Elizabeth FORRESTER.
iv. Christian FORRESTER was born on 11 Sep 1788 in Edinburgh.

Evidence that this is indeed the family of Elizabeth, wife of David Gardner (thanks to Dennis Prue for his research on this family, including this evidence):

• The age is correct: being born in 1785, she would have been about 22 at her marriage to David Gardner, and 42 at the birth of her last child, Emerence. The only other Elizabeth that Dennis found in the records would have been 60 at that time.
• Elizabeth named her first two daughters Mary and Christian (which later was changed to Christine in French language records); these are the names of two of the daughters of Charles and Margaret, Elizabeth's sisters.
• David Gardner was in Edinburgh from March 1805, when he joined the 9th Royal Veteran Battalion (which was stationed in Edinburgh), through March 1807, when he joined the 10th Royal Veteran Battalion, which arrived in Quebec that same year. This is the time frame in which he met his wife -- their first child, Mary, was born in January 1808 in Quebec, which means they were probably married in early 1807.
