In the ship passenger list, he is listed as age 15, laborer, from Prussia, traveling with Jadwiga Kledzik, age 9, arrived in Baltimore 5 Mar 1889. He was became a US citizen in 1896. (6) He appeared on the census in 1900 in Chicago, Illinois. (7) Listed as born Jul 1875, age 24, married for 2 years, born in Poland (Germany), both parents born in Poland (Germany), immigrated to US in 1890, had been in US for 10 years, naturalized US citizen, working as a spring factory foreman, could read, write, and speak English, rented his home, living with wife Marie and daughters Marie (age 1) and Margarett (age 9 months), at 1174 N. Leavitt St., in the same building as his wife's father Ignatz Pouter. He appeared on the census in 1920 in Chicago, Illinois. (8) Listed as age 45, owned home free of mortgage, immigrated to US in 1888, naturalized as a US citizen in 1896, could read and write, born in Poland, mother tongue Polish, both parents born in Poland and spoke Polish, could speak English, was working as Assistant Superintendant of a spring factory, working for wages, and living at 3617 N. Tripp St., Chicago, with daughters Mary (age 22) and Florence (14), and son Henry (7). He was a supervisor (assistant superintendant, foreman in Wm. D. Gibson Co. (spring factory). He was married to Marie PAUTER on 20 Jan 1897 in Holy Trinity Church, Chicago, Illinois. (9) Witnesses were Franciszek Marklewicz and Stanslaus Wozniak.

(25.) 3. Marie PAUTER was born in Jun 1879 in Prussia (Poland). She appeared on the census in 1900 in Chicago, Illinois.(10) Listed as Marie Kledzik, born in June 1879, age 20, married for 2 years, had given birth to two children, both still living, born in Poland (Germany), both parents born in Poland (Germany), date of immigration to US unknown, could read, write and speak English, living at 1174 N. Leavitt St. with husband Roman Kledzik and daughters Marie (age 1) and Margarett (9 months) in same building with her parents Ignatz and Josephine Pouter. She died on 31 Dec 1917 in Chicago, Illinois. (11) Obituary notes she died at 11:30 p.m. after a short but serious illness at the age of 38. The cause of death given on the death certificate was "septic peritonitis," and the illness lasted from 27 Dec until 31 Dec. (28) The wake was held at her home at 3617 N. Tripp Ave. She was buried on 4 Jan 1918 in St. Adalbert Cemetery. Children were:

child iii. Frances Hedwig KLEDZIK was born on 8 Sep 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. (12) She was baptized on 15 Sep 1901 in St. Hedwig's Church, Chicago, Illinois.(13) Her godparents were Francis Xaverius Kucharzewski and Pauline Kurowska. She died on 21 Aug 1902 in Chicago, Illinois.(14) Her obituary gives her age as 11 months and 14 days. It notes she died, and is signed by her parents Roman and Maryanna Kledzik, her sisters Maryanna and Eleonora, her grandparents Ignacy and Józefa Panter. She was buried on 24 Aug 1902. The obituary notes that her funeral procession would start at the family home at 1174 N. Leavitt St. and go to St.Hedwig Church.
