38. Simon CHAMBERLAND was born on 26 Jul 1832 in Rivière du Loup, Lower Canada (Québec). He was baptized on 28 Jul 1832 at St-Patrice Church, Rivière du Loup [source: Naissances de St-Patrice-de-Rivière-du-Loup, 1813-1992, p.104]. He moved with his parents from Rivière du Loup to the Madawaska Settlement sometime around 1839. He was a farmer.

He was married to Nathalie OUELLETTE on 10 Feb 1857 in Ste-Luce church, Township 18, Range 5 (now Frenchville), Maine. Witnesses were Jules Ouellet and Thomas Chassé [sources: Ste Luce parish register]

They appeared on the 1860 US census in Township 18, Range 5, Aroostook (now Frenchville/Ste-Agathe), Maine as Simon Chamberlin, 24, laborer, real estate worth $340, personal estate worth $175, born in Canada, couldn't read, and Talie Chamberlin, 22, born in Maine, living with daughters Malvina (3) and Selina (7 months). They appeared on the 1870 US census in Dickeyville (now Frenchville/Ste-Agathe), as Simon Chamberlain, age 38, farmer with real estate worth $400 and personal estate worth $250, born in Canada, unable to read or write, male citizen of the US, and Tallie Chamberlain, age 36, "keeping house," born in Canada, unable to read or write, living with children Melvina (13), Selina (12), Victoria (9), Belony (4), Amelia (3), Benjamin (1).[1870 US census, Aroostook Co., ME, Dickeyville, p.65b] 

They appeared on the 1880 US census in Frenchville, Maine, as Simon Chamberland, age 47, farmer, couldn't read or write, born in Maine, parents born in Canada,and wife Lattie Chamberland, age 43, "keeping house", couldn't read or write, born in Maine, parents born in Canada, living with children Victoria (age 17), son B(?) (12), Levi (8), Leah(?) (7), daughter M(?) (5), and Laura (2). (114)

Nathalie OUELLETTE died on 4 Jun 1907. 

Simon CHAMBLERAND and Nathalie OUELLETTE had the following children:

child i. Malvina CHAMBERLAND was born on 9 Jan 1858, and was baptized on 11 Feb 1858 at Ste-Luce church in Frenchville, Maine. Her godparents were Jules Ouellet and Elisabeth Martin. She appeared on the 1860 US census in Township 18, Range 5, Aroostook, Maine as Malvina Chamberlin, age 3, living with parents Simon and Talie.(119)  She was married to Joseph BOUCHER (son of Gaspard BOUCHER and Osithé DESCHÊNES) on 4 Mar 1878 in Ste-Luce church.
child ii. Damase CHAMBERLAND was born on 13 Oct 1858. He was baptized the same day at Ste-Luce church by Fr.Henri Dionne. His godparents were Thomas Chassé and Bethsabée Thériault. He died on 20 Oct 1858 and was buried two days later at Ste Luce church cemetery.
child iii. Nathalie CHAMBERLAND was born on 13 Oct 1858, and baptized, along with her twin brother Damase, on the same day at Ste-Luce Church. Her godparents were Théodore Ayotte and Anastasie Martin. She died on 20 Oct 1858 and was buried two days later at Ste Luce church cemetery.
child iv. Délina CHAMBERLAND was born on 29 Nov 1859 in Township 18, Range 5, Aroostook, Maine, and was baptized four days later at Ste-Luce Church. Her godparents were mother's brother Olivier Ouellette and his wife Elisabeth Martin. Délina appeared on the 1860 US census in Township 18, Range 5, Aroostook, Maine as Selina Chamberlin, age 7 months, living with parents Simon and Talie.(121) She was married to Ansèlme BOUCHER (son of Gaspard BOUCHER and Osithé DESCHÊNES) on 27 Oct 1879 in Ste-Luce church.

child viii. Benjamin CHAMBERLAND was born about 1869 in Maine.  He was married to Modeste MARQUIS (daughter of Paul MARQUIS and Euphémie PICARD) on 2 May 1892 in Ste-Agathe.
