18. Simon (Simonet) TARDIF was born on 22 May 1856 in Frenchville, Maine. He was baptized on 29 May 1856 in Ste-Luce church, Frenchville, Maine.(7) His godparents were Simon Martin and Delina Ouellette; he was baptized by Fr. Dionne.
He appeared in the 1860 census as Simon Terdis, age 4, living in the household of his parents Louis and Sophie in Township 18, Range 5 (now Ste-Agathe) (p.509, line 15). He appeared on the 1880 US census in Frenchville, Maine, as Simeion Tardiffe, age 23, single, working on farm, couldn't read or write, born in Maine, living with parents Louis and Sophia.(16)
He was married to Victoria CHAMBERLAND (daughter of Simon CHAMBERLAND and Nathalie OUELLETTE) on 31 Aug 1884 in Frenchville, Maine. (17)
She appeared in the 1870 US census in Dickeyville (now Frenchville/Ste-Agathe), Maine, as Victoria Chamberlain, age 9, born in Maine, living with parents Simon and Tallie. She appeared on the 1880 US census in Frenchville, Maine, age 17, living at home with parents Simon and Lattie, couldn't read or write, born in Maine. (19)
Victoria CHAMBERLAND died on 10 Aug 1927, and was buried in Ste-Agathe cemetery.
Simon TARDIF died on 27 Mar 1928. He was buried in Ste-Agathe.
Simon TARDIF and Victoria CHAMBERLAND had the following children:
